Overview
The Lily Pabilona Emerging Entrepreneur Scholarship was established in 2016 and is generously supported by entrepreneurs Grace and Ranier Pabilona. It honors Asian American students at the high school through graduate/post-graduate levels who are pursuing careers in entrepreneurship. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are intended for U.S. students enrolled at accredited American colleges and universities; funds must be applied toward tuition and related fees.
Award Amount
- $1,000–$5,000 per recipient, payable toward school tuition and fees.
General Eligibility
- At least 25% Asian and/or Pacific Islander heritage.
- U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.
- High school seniors or current full-time students at an accredited U.S. vocational school, community/junior college, or four-year college/university. By the start of the upcoming academic year, applicants must be enrolled full time and be seeking an associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree.
- Students from any major may apply.
- Demonstrated leadership through community service, extracurricular activities, or similar involvement.
- Minimum cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Immediate family members of Board members are not eligible.
Specific Business-Related Requirements
- Applicant must own and actively operate a small business.
- The business must have been operating for at least one year and have produced revenue for a minimum of six consecutive months preceding the application.
- Applicants must submit a business plan and/or provide a link to the business website, plus links to relevant social media accounts.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be evaluated on:
- Strength and clarity of the written submission (essay).
- The applicant’s current business and its potential economic impact.
- Academic record.
- Leadership and community service contributions.
- Quality of letters of recommendation.
- Performance in a committee interview (phone or in-person).
