Joye Law Firm Annual Scholarship Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Joye Law Firm
Overview
Our firm awards seven scholarships of $2,000 each to South Carolina high school seniors who intend to enroll at a four-year college or university the coming fall. Recipients are chosen based on the creativity of their submission plus involvement in school and community, leadership roles, academic achievement, honors and awards, and career-oriented pursuits.
HBCU Scholarship
Beginning in 2021 we added a separate scholarship for one student who will attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Applicants may submit for both the general scholarships and the HBCU award using the same online application.
Who is eligible
- Graduating seniors from South Carolina high schools who plan to attend a four-year institution in the fall.
How to apply
When you complete the online application, include the following materials:
1. A current high school transcript
2. A bullet-point list of your extracurricular activities and/or community service
3. A creative entry responding to one of these prompts:
- As a graduating senior, what advice would you give your younger self (and incoming freshmen) about handling peer pressure and avoiding risky behaviors such as drunk driving and texting while driving?
- Drunk driving accidents claim over 10,000 lives each year. Demonstrate or describe how drunk driving affects your state, your community, and/or you personally.
- If you are applying for the HBCU scholarship, you may choose one of the two prompts above or alternatively submit a 600-word essay on: “Why attending a historically Black college or university is important to me.”

5. A current photo suitable for publication
