Introductory statement
Determined young people have the capacity to drive meaningful change and act as role models for their families, peers, and neighborhoods. The Dream Big Fort Worth Determined Scholar program supports promising students who are ready to lead and give back.
What the program provides
- ACT/SAT test preparation courses
- Monthly workshops covering college applications, academic and campus success strategies, financial literacy, and physical/mental well-being
- One-to-one mentoring that begins in your senior year of high school and continues through college graduation
- Financial support of up to $24,000 during undergraduate study to help cover tuition, fees, textbooks and supplies, and living expenses
Who is eligible
You may apply if all of the following apply to you:
- You are currently a high school junior enrolled in an accredited Tarrant County public school (including public charter or magnet schools) and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
- You plan to enroll full time in a four-year, degree-granting college or university immediately after high school graduation.
- You face financial barriers to attending college and can provide documentation of your financial need.

- Committed to learning: You prioritize your education, demonstrated by consistent attendance and positive behavior.
- Big thinker: You identify opportunities where others see limits and set ambitious goals for the future.
How to apply
- Submit the online application by February 3, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST. The application requires one recommendation letter; please ensure your recommender submits their portion by the same deadline.
- Finalists will be invited to attend an in-person interview on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Attendance at the interview is mandatory for consideration.
- Finalists will be notified by phone. Selected recipients will be announced on the program website and through other media channels.
