Jim Anderson Memorial Scholarship — Program Overview and Applicant Requirements
About Jim Anderson
Jim Anderson served as Senior Vice President and Director of Technology at Metcalf & Eddy | AECOM. He oversaw M&E’s research efforts and led the ongoing development of the firm’s textbooks, including the recently published Water Reuse volume. ENR referred to him as “an engineer’s engineer” and “one of the world’s acknowledged leaders in water and wastewater treatment plant engineering.” Throughout his career Jim championed the education and mentorship of early-career environmental engineers — a mission aligned with Metcalf & Eddy’s century-old commitment to developing engineering professionals as set out by Leonard Metcalf and Harrison P. Eddy. He originated M&E’s annual Student Design Competition, regularly took part in career fairs and mock interviews at his alma mater, The Cooper Union, and forged productive research partnerships with numerous universities. Jim passed away in early 2006 after a battle with cancer; his mentorship and vision remain influential in the New York engineering community.
